BACKGROUND: The prevalence of failure of Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is high. One of the complications of the failure of these procedures is sexual problems. Counseling interventions may improve the sexual health of these women. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of solution-focused counseling on the sexual satisfaction and sexual quality of life (SQL) in women with PCOS with a history of failure of ART. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is a randomized clinical trial carried out in women with PCOS with a history of failure of ART in the Reproductive Sciences Research Institute from March–August 2023 in Yazd, Iran. 60 samples were selected and randomized to intervention (8 solution-focused counseling sessions) and active control groups (educational booklets). The SQL and sexual satisfaction questionnaires were completed by both groups, before, immediately, and one month after the intervention. Data were analyzed by SPSS21. RESULTS: A statistically significant difference was reported between the sexual satisfaction scores in the two intervention and active control groups immediately ( P < 0.01) and one month after the intervention ( P < 0.001). Also, a significant difference was reported between the SQL scores in the two intervention and active control groups immediately ( P < 0.05) and one month after the intervention ( P < 0.02). CONCLUSIONS: Counseling based on the solution-focused approach increased sexual satisfaction and improved the SQL in women with PCOS with failure of ART. Therefore, it is recommended to use this approach in health and treatment centers to improve the sexual health of these women.
