Background : Equine metabolic syndrome is a common equine endocrine disorder associated with insulin dysregulation and consequently an increased risk of laminitis. Aim of the article : This article describes the pathophysiology of insulin dysregulation in the horse, and the clinical presentation, diagnosis and management of equine metabolic syndrome.
