The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed libraries into intelligent knowledge ecosystems that enhance information retrieval, automate cataloguing, and improve user-centric services. However, this transformation also raises critical challenges related to data privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, and sustainability. The research adopts a theoretical and analytical approach to examine how AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics can be effectively integrated into library systems while ensuring ethical accountability and environmental responsibility. Findings indicate that AI significantly improves operational efficiency and user experience but requires robust governance mechanisms to ensure fairness and inclusivity. The study emphasizes the need for human oversight, ethical auditing, and sustainable digital infrastructure in library development. It concludes that a balanced integration of AI optimization, ethical governance, and sustainability is essential for building future-ready smart libraries.
