There is a need for a non-invasive method to evaluate the hemodynamic consequences of pacing. The value of Doppler echocardiography in assessing relative changes in stroke volume and cardiac output is reviewed. We present preliminary observations illustrating the potential value of Doppler echocardiography in cardiac pacing.
