It is a distressing fact that many substances which pharmacologically appear to be promising later fail to fulfill this promise in the course of direct clinical trial. The clinical use of such "vasodilator" substances is often predicated upon the physiologic observation that they produce an increased coronary blood flow in animal preparations, without considering the possibility that the increase in flow may represent solely a heightened myocardial demand induced...Bibliography1.
