Abstract Various nitro compounds were effectively reduced by sodium hydrogen telluride in good yields. Thus, reductive conversion of unhindered nitrobenzenes to azoxybenzenes, sterically hindered nitrobenzenes to anilines, nitroalkanes to dimer of nitrosoalkanes, and vicinal-dinitroalkane to olefin was achieved.
