In Brief Recent studies have evaluated the interrelationship between physical activity and body weight on the incidence of chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD). The combined effect seems to be different and to be dependent on the disease mechanism. Studies reveal that body weight has a greater influence on diabetes, and physical activity plays a greater role in CVD.
