The objective of this expanded summary is to present elements that have been contributing to the psychological suffering of the Brazilian scientific diaspora in Portugal. The data were analyzed from a questionnaire sent to Brazilians, with complete higher education, over 18 years of age and who were linked to Portuguese educational institutions, whether undergraduate, master's, doctoral or post-doctoral students. We materialized the responses of 228 diasporic Brazilians, who are part of the Brazilian scientific diaspora. As a result, it is clear that from the perspective of human subjectivity and the psychological suffering of the subjects involved, collective actions must be undertaken in order to mitigate suffering as well as restore mental health.
