Evaluation trenching of proposed solar farm, targeting anomalies of possible archaeological origin identified by a geophysical survey of the site. No features of archaeological significance were discovered during the evaluation, with Trenches 1,2,5,6,7,8 being completely devoid of archaeological features except for some modern plough scarring and one modern land drain located in Trench 2. Trenches 3 and 4 contained late post-medieval and modern activity, including three late postmedieval drainage ditches in Trench 3 which corresponded to anomalies on the geophysical survey, and a large modern rubbish dump in Trench 4 which was used to level the field approximately 40 years ago (Landowner pers. comm).
