The mental health of higher education students is facing a growing global crisis, driven by academic pressure, financial stress, and modern digital challenges such as social media comparison and smartphone dependency. This study explores the multi-dimensional causes of student mental health decline using international literature and localized data from the Achol Foundation and North South University (NSU).Findings show that academic stress accounts for 45% of psychological distress, while socioeconomic inequality, digital dependency, and social stigma contribute significantly to worsening conditions (28.4%). Additionally, nearly 60% of affected students avoid seeking help due to cultural stigma. The study proposes a three-part intervention framework: early mental health education, reduced academic workload, and accessible, confidential counseling services. These strategies aim to improve student well-being and support healthier academic environments.
