With profound grief and deep respect, the Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (ISVPT) mourns the passing of Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Srivastava, one of India’s most eminent veterinary pharmacologists, an outstanding academic administrator, and a visionary scientific leader, who left for his heavenly abode on 25 December 2025. Born on 1 August 1957 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Anil Kumar Srivastava completed his BVSc & AH (1979), MVSc (1981), and PhD (1984), and later underwent advanced training at the GSF Institute of Toxicology, Munich, Germany (1988–1990). Beginning his career as an Assistant Professor, he rose to occupy several distinguished positions, including Professor and Head at PAU/GADVASU, Dean at SKUAST-Jammu, Director of ICAR–NDRI, Member and Chairman of ASRB, and Vice-Chancellor of DUVASU, Mathura. Widely respected for his visionary leadership, he made significant contributions to institutional development, academic excellence, and scientific administration in India. Prof. Srivastava was a founding pillar of ISVPT and played a pivotal role in shaping the discipline of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology in India. As President of ISVPT from 2013 to 2017 and Founder Chief Editor of the Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology (JVPT), he contributed immensely to the growth of the Society and the advancement of scientific scholarship. His influence extended beyond ISVPT through his leadership of several national scientific academies and professional organizations, as well as his service on numerous government committees, task forces, and advisory bodies, including those associated with DBT, FSSAI, and other national policy and research initiatives. Renowned for his intellectual brilliance, analytical acumen, and inspiring mentorship, Dr. Srivastava influenced generations of students, researchers, and academicians through his scholarship, eloquence, and leadership. His distinguished contributions earned him numerous honours, including the ICAR Jawaharlal Nehru Award, International NOCIL Award, German Academic Exchange Fellowship, several Lifetime Achievement Awards, and Fellowships of leading national and international scientific academies. The passing of Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Srivastava marks a profound loss to veterinary science and agricultural education in India. His legacy endures through the institutions he nurtured, the standards of excellence he established, and the generations of students and colleagues he inspired through his wisdom, leadership, and dedication. ISVPT pays its heartfelt tribute to an outstanding scientist, visionary administrator, mentor, and guide whose contributions will continue to inspire the profession for years to come. He is survived by his family, colleagues, and a vast community of students and admirers in India and abroad. His memory and values of knowledge, integrity, service, and humanity will remain a lasting source of inspiration for future generations. May his soul rest in peace.
