The Origin of Kinds of Genealogy in “Devonu Lugʻoti-T-Turk” and Their Present Significance

In the formation and development of Turkic languages over long periods, historical monuments such as ancient manuscripts and inscriptions that have come down to us are of great importance. Among them, the work “Devonu lugʻotit turk” by Mahmud Kashgari is one of the largest and most reliable sources. This work plays a significant role in the study of the language, culture, customs and social system of the Turkic peoples of the 11th century. In the work of Mahmud Kashgari, many linguistic units, in particular, kinship terms, are widely and thoroughly described in detail. These terms are considered a rare and incomparable source not only from the point of view of linguistics, but also as ethnographic and historical information.
