The paper reveals the specifics of the construction industry, as belonging to a certain industry and its characteristic features determine the company's ability to compete, and a list of features inherent in the construction industry is outlined in detail. A study of various classifications of factors influencing the work of construction enterprises was conducted, but there is no unified approach to such classification in the scientific literature. The own division of such factors according to belonging to the environment is structured, a conclusion is made about the predominance of external factors. Based on the developed scientific sources, a conclusion is made about the feasibility of using innovations in production, which can become a significant factor in ensuring the competitive position of the enterprise on the market. Based on the list of identified factors, a PEST analysis was formed, which substantiates how exactly these factors affect the activity of construction enterprises. Consequently, political factors, mostly negative, have the greatest impact on construction enterprises, namely: the state of war in the country, the imperfection of the legislative framework, problems with the implementation of new initiatives. Economic factors also have a significant impact on the construction industry, for example, high competition in the industry, low level of investment, excessive costs of materials and energy resources, and instability of the exchange rate. No less important is the influence of technological factors, such as modernization of machines, equipment and software, adjustment of the production process, etc. This proves the need to introduce innovative technologies to ensure production efficiency. Social factors, such as the demographic crisis, professional training, social working conditions, etc., have the least influence according to this study.
