Defining science and technology workers scientifically is a fundamental issue in building a strong nation in science and technology. Based on authoritative sources such as the *Classification of Occupations of the People's Republic of China (2022 Edition)*, this study employs a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to identify a professional system of science and technology workers covering 771 occupational subcategories, and constructs screening criteria based on education level and age. Furthermore, addressing limitations such as data timeliness, part-time identification, and updates to emerging occupations, this study proposes suggestions including improving multi-source data fusion statistics, strengthening the inclusion of grassroots talent, and establishing a dynamic updating mechanism, providing theoretical basis and practical pathways for accurate statistics on science and technology workers.
