The objective of this study is to develop a composite coating using chitosan (Chit), hydroxyapatite (HAp), and vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF). The bioactive coating was created through the electrochemical deposition of chitosan onto a laser-treated titanium alloy surface, followed by the adsorption of VEGF. Our in vitro experiments have shown that this discs with laser-engraved parallel linear grooves and bioactive coating enhances the adhesion of human mesenchymal stromal cells and exhibits osteoinductive and proangiogenic properties in vitro. This combination of the VEGF-loaded composite coating and substrate microrelief will enhance osteointegration and osteosynthesis at the bone interface.
