In this study our aim is to compare both flaccid and stretched penile length before, immediately after and 6 weeks after surgery. METHODS: We prospectively collected measurements in 54 patients undergone inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) implant. Standardized measurements of flaccid and stretched penile length were performed in theatre before penile prosthesis implantation then re-measured at the end of the procedure and 6 weeks later with the penis in the erect position. Data concerning age, BMI, smoking status and comorbidities were collected from the medical records. Penile length were compared using paired t-test and linear regression was used to correlate comorbities and post operative length. RESULTS: Mean pre-operative flaccid and stretched lengths were 10.4 cm and 13.3 cm respectively. A statistically significant difference was shown between pre-op and post operative stretched penile length (13.2 cm vs 13.5 cm, p-value= 0.026) and pre-operative and 6 weeks after surgery stretched penile length (13.2 cm vs 13.44 cm, p-value= 0.029). Radical prostatectomy, smoking habits, pre-operative ED therapy were not shown to be correlated to post operative length. CONCLUSIONS: In our preliminary data penile length after PPI implant is shown to be significantly improved.
