Urbanization in Ghana has led to rapid growth of informal settlements, characterized by inadequate infrastructure and social services. A mixed-methods design was employed, integrating semi-structured interviews with residents and census data to explore perceptions and realities of social welfare provision in informal settlements. Socioeconomic disparities were evident; over 60% of respondents reported inadequate access to healthcare facilities within their communities. The findings highlight the need for targeted interventions focusing on improving infrastructure and service delivery mechanisms in these areas. Policy recommendations include increased investment in community health centers, improved public transport links, and enhanced social welfare programmes tailored to informal settlement residents.
