A BSTRACT Introduction: The problem of mental disorders and the increase in suicides, as well as the search for biological markers, such as lipid metabolism indicators, are of considerable interest for early detection and prevention. Objective: To analyze the current scientific data on the relationship between lipid profile and depressive disorders, including suicidal behavior. Search Strategy: The literature review covered 28 years from 1996 to 2024 and included the following databases: PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science Core Collection. Inclusion criteria: analysis of descriptive, analytical, clinical studies, and systematic reviews, in English and Russian languages, regardless of country and nationality. Results and Conclusions: The literature review revealed an association between lipid metabolism disorders and mental disorders, including depression and suicidal behavior, which is supported by current data but remains controversial due to the complex, multifactorial nature of this interaction.
