Three volumes of the Dictionary reflect different layers of the folkcolloquial speech of Arkhangelsk (Urban Vernacular, Professional speech of fishermen and sailors, Youth jargon of Arkhangelsk). The relevance of dictionary of this kind is due to its complex nature. The study of the language picture of the world using the material of the speech of the Arkhangelsk people has not only regional but also allRussian significance. In this regard, it seemed relevant to fix the living colloquial speech of northerners at the turn of the 20th – 21st centuries. For the first time in Russian lexicography, urban vernacular and sociolects of the Arkhangelsk region were studied both in static and dynamic aspects. With each word, an interpretation of its meanings is given, the main grammatical forms, stress, emotionally expressive, encyclopedic marks, usage examples, phraseological units are given. The dictionary successfully solves many problems of substandard lexicography.
