The article is devoted to the peculiarities of revealing the coaching approach in the process of training managers to develop their psychological qualities and competencies. The essence of the concept of "coaching" and "coaching approach" is highlighted, the importance of this approach in the process of training managers, their acquisition of basic knowledge, skills and abilities, for expanding their capabilities, increasing the level of communication, productive cooperation, improving competencies in professional activities, rapid adaptation for future managers, etc. is substantiated. Based on the author's experience in teaching in higher education institutions of Ukraine (the academic disciplines "Fundamentals of Coaching", "Theory and Practice of Social and Psychological Training", etc.), conducting training classes for civil servants ("Coaching in the Activities of a Civil Servant", etc.) and, accordingly, applying the coaching approach, the possibilities of integrating coaching elements into the educational process for specialists of different levels and areas, as well as for future specialists of various specialties, were analyzed in order to form and develop a mature professional personality, the level and psychological qualities of which meet today's challenges. The importance of professional development of managers is determined, which today includes, in addition to mastering the basic concepts by a specialist, a high level of self-management and self-reflection, competencies, awareness of both one's own strengths and qualities, and understanding of the individual psychological characteristics of other people (subordinates, employees, teammates), personal responsibility, personal development, clear instructions, the ability to listen, hear, respond quickly, work efficiency, involvement and interaction with the team, making constructive management decisions in difficult and dangerous war conditions, etc. Examples of coaching techniques that can be used in the process of training managers are given. The purpose of the study is to highlight the coaching approach in the process of training managers to develop their psychological qualities and competencies.
