The SCCAS brief required a programme of linear trial trenching to sample the site ahead of the construction of a single dwelling. This was achieved by excavating a single 15.00m x 1.80m trench The site had a moderate potential for features and finds relating to the medieval and post-medieval periods. The potential for features and finds from all other periods was low. Despite the above potential only two archaeological features were encountered. Due to the lack of material culture, dating of the ditches cannot be certain. However, the features do appear to correspond with a courtyard area, attached to a property owned by the Duke of Grafton, and occupied by Mary Mully, on the 1837 Tithe map (fig.8). This indicates the features may be of post-medieval date; however, an earlier origin cannot be ruled out. Overall, the evaluation was successful in characterising the archaeology present at the site.
