This volume examines innovation's ethical challenges in science, highlighting policy's role in aligning with societal values.
Scientific innovation continues to shape society in profound ways, but it also raises complex ethical questions. This year, the MIT Science Policy Review introduces our first themed volume: Ethics in Innovation. The issue explores how scientific developments from a variety of fields, from biotechnology to nuclear power to artificial intelligence, can present both opportunities and risks, and how policy can be used to mitigate and manage these. By bringing ethics to the forefront, this volume encourages thoughtful examination of how innovation aligns with societal values and long-term well-being.
