Engineering application demonstrates time logarithm method improves settlement predictions in vacuum preloading, highlighting its generalization value.
In the early stages of extensive vacuum preloading, common settlement prediction methods are difficult to apply. Through a large number of engineering cases, it is found that there is a long linear section in the middle of the settlement and time logarithm curve of large area vacuum preloading. The settlement data and time logarithm in this linear section can be fitted into a straight line, and the linear correlation is strong. The time logarithmic method can accurately predict the settlement at a certain time in the later stage of vacuum preloading in the early and middle stages of vacuum preloading construction. In the middle of vacuum preloading construction, the hyperbolic method, exponential curve method and Asaoka method can accurately predict the settlement at a certain time in the later stage of vacuum preloading. The time logarithm method has a greater value for generalization.
