Electrochemical studies demonstrate improved specific capacitance and energy density in ZnFe2O4 through temperature-driven morphology changes.
Abstract In this paper, we demonstrate the synthesis of ZnFe₂O₄nanostructures via a simple hydrothermal route. We have deposited ZnFe₂O₄ nanostructures on nickel foam substrate at different temperatures to study the correlation between temperature alteration and morphology variation of ZnFe₂O₄ nanostructures. Also, electrochemical studies were conducted to better understand the supercapacitive behaviour of the effect of temperature and morphology variation on the electrodes. The study consisted of ZnFe₂O₄electrode material synthesized at four different temperatures and a change in morphology was monitored. ZnFe₂O₄microspheres synthesized at 120℃ exhibit a maximum specific capacitance of 883 F/g at 5 mV/s in 1M KOH with an energy density of 113 Wh/kg and power density of 0.8 kW/kg and a cyclic stability upto 2000 cycles with a retention rate of 85%.
