Experimental findings reveal engineered pore defects significantly boost fluorescence and shift optoelectronic properties in nanographene, suggesting new material designs.
This study investigates the impact of engineered pore defects in nanographene on optoelectronic and chiroptical properties, including UV-vis absorption, fluorescence emission, circular dichroism (CD), and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). By examining chiral nanographene derivatives with zero, single, and double pore defects, we observe significant blue shifts (>100 nm each pore) and enhanced fluorescence quantum yields. These results demonstrate that pore defect engineering is a powerful strategy for tuning nanographenes' properties and designing advanced functional materials.
