Direct drive pmlg emulator studies variable ac voltage behavior in ocean wave environments, indicating system stability implications.
The PMLG generates a variable A.C. voltage, and the generated voltage mainly depends on the motion of its mover, i.e. height and time period. The Spatiotemporal distribution of ocean waves is characteristically non-uniform, and the use of PMLG in OWEC devices leads to discontinuous A.C. voltage with variable amplitude and frequency. This paper presents a direct drive PMLG-based OWEC emulator to study the behavior of PMLG at various wave heights and time period. Furthermore, state-space equations are derived, and system stability is checked. MATLAB simulation results, along with experimental results of power electronic emulator, are presented. The model has been validated with published results.
