This analysis demonstrates the significance of electronic dictionaries in understanding metaphorical meanings in Arabic education, suggesting enhanced creativity in language learning.
This study addresses an important linguistic and rhetorical phenomenon in the field of language teaching: metaphorical meanings. This phenomenon provides language learners with broad scope for language use and frees them from the literal and abstract meanings of words. Based on the fact that dictionaries are the repository of languages, due to the vocabulary they contain for each language, this study aims to demonstrate the importance of dictionaries in language teaching. It also demonstrated the importance of metaphorical meanings in that they expand the learner's mental horizons, encourage creativity in composing speech, and give speech direct and indirect dimensions and content. The study utilized the Doha Electronic Historical Dictionary as a means to achieve all of the above. Therefore, the study concluded its objectives by examining the Doha Electronic Historical Dictionary and its importance in teaching metaphorical meanings.
