The 3D ground model enhances the design process for levee reinforcement, improving accuracy and efficiency.
For the Neder-Betuwe levee reinforcement project in the Netherlands, a 3D Ground model (Digital Twin) has been made over the entire 20-kilometer length of the levee. The 3D Ground model is made using LeapFrog Works software and uses CPT-data, borehole data and electrical resistivity tomography data. The 3D Ground model is used to verify supplied data and to generate Elevation Grids, longitudinal- and cross-sections which are subsequently imported in (Geotechnical) software for further design purposes. The 3D Ground model significantly improves the design process by, among others, modelling of the sand wedge in the levee, making accurate excavation plans and performing 3D settlement calculations.
