This analysis demonstrates the water uptake behavior of semiconducting glasses in response to environmental stimuli, indicating their potential applications.
Here we present the uptake behaviour of mechanochemically synthesised crystalline HOIPs, of the form [TAlA][M(dca)3] (TAlA= tetraalkylammonium, M= Mn2+ and Fe2+, dca= [C2N3-] (dicyanamide)), and their stable melt quenched glassy derivatives. The intrinsic semiconducting nature of these materials, alongside their response to environmentally relevant stimuli was explored using UV-Vis spectroscopy.
