Enhanced charge simulation method shows improved versatility in electrostatic field computation for complex geometries, indicating broader applications in engineering.
The charge simulation method (CSM) is a well‐established numerical technique employed in electrostatic field calculations, primarily due to its simplicity and computational efficiency. However, conventional CSM face challenges when applied to complex geometries, as they necessitate meticulous manual placement of simulation charges and matching points. In this paper, we propose an enhanced CSM that incorporates mesh‐based approaches to automate the generation of simulation charges and matching points. By utilising structured or unstructured meshes, the proposed mesh‐based CSM (MCSM) is capable of handling intricate geometries. Numerical experiments validate the increased versatility of the method in comparison to traditional CSM techniques. Furthermore, the efficacy of the proposed method is demonstrated through its application to the calculation of total electric fields surrounding high‐voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines in the presence of nearby buildings. These results underscore the potential of the improved CSM to expand its range of practical applications, thereby enhancing its utility in practice.
