Analysis reveals improvements in teaching modes and integration of extracurricular activities in HKU courses, suggesting enhancements for Chinese universities.
Taking several business and economics courses at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) as examples, this article examined their teaching mode design and what lessons a University in China can learn in its ongoing teaching reform. It should focus on integrating in-class and extracurricular teaching activities with a large proportion of extracurricular activities. It may open cross-year practical courses in the professional core courses. It can construct research courses. Hours for lectures in core courses should not be too long so that students have enough time to conduct self-learning and prepare course papers or reports.
