Comparative study assesses architectures and potential of IoT and IoS, highlighting implications for digital interaction.
The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized digital connectivity by enabling seamless communication between smart devices, optimizing industrial automation, and enhancing daily life applications. However, the emergence of the Internet of Senses (IoS) aims to take digital interaction beyond conventional data exchange to include multisensory experiences such as touch, taste, smell, vision, and hearing. This paper presents a comparative analysis of IoT and IoS, focusing on their architectures, technologies, applications, challenges, and future implications. Through compare results and expert surveys, we assess the maturity and feasibility of these paradigms. The results highlight that while IoT is more established and widely implemented, IoS has the potential to revolutionize human-computer interaction by creating immersive digital experiences.
