Analytical expressions reveal stress variations in non-homogeneous orthotropic micropolar media, suggesting implications for material behavior under load.
The non-homogeneous properties of the medium were earlier assumed to vary along one direction. A lot of work under this assumption has been published in the past. This research focuses on the deformation behavior of a non-homogeneous orthotropic micropolar medium, where the functionally graded material exhibits varying mechanical properties along the x and y directions. Analytical expressions for displacement, stress and tangential couple stress components are derived in the physical domain using the normal mode analysis technique. These expressions offer insights into the stress and deformation characteristics of the material, taking into account its non-homogeneity and micropolar effects, which are crucial for understanding the material's response under various loading conditions. The components are numerically evaluated using MATLAB software for an aluminum-epoxy composite modeled as a micropolar material. Additionally, the results are presented graphically to illustrate the variations on the physical quantities. Comparative analyses have been conducted to assess the influence of non-homogeneity on the behavior of all physical quantities under investigation.
