Survey study reveals the need for tailored communication training for cancer doctors, highlighting doctor-patient communication issues.
This paper explores the quality of doctor-patient communication in new cancer patient visits using communication assessment tools. We did a survey study right after the first visits with the cancer patients after the diagnosis. The data was collected from a large cancer center. We used logistic regression to analyze the relationship between the variables. The findings indicate some implications for the need for tailored communication training for cancer doctors based on the unique needs of the patients.
