This analysis reveals how perpendicularity errors affect accuracy metrics in gear grinding, suggesting methods for improvement.
In response to the issue of reduced gear grinding accuracy caused by perpendicularity errors in ring gear form grinding, this paper establishes a thermo-mechanical coupled finite element model for ring gear grinding. From the perspective of thermal deformation, it reveals the quantitative impact of this perpendicularity error on accuracy metrics such as profile error and helix error. Methods such as double-sided lapping of the ring gear are proposed to effectively reduce perpendicularity errors. Through process experiments, the improvement in gear accuracy is validated, ultimately enhancing ring gear grinding accuracy by 15% - 20% and stabilizing it at the GB5 level.
