Tribological performance improved significantly in GCr15-Si materials with pentaerythritol oleate, indicating enhanced lubrication.
As an environmentally friendly lubricant, pentaerythritol oleate has found extensive application in numerous industrial sectors. In this study, the tribological performance of GCr15-Si material pairs was evaluated under distinct operational parameters through UMT-2 micro-tribometer testing. The results indicate that, compared to dry friction, the friction coefficient under pentaerythritol oleate lubrication decreased by 5 to 6 times. Additionally, stick-slip vibration was significantly mitigated, and the substrate exhibited a 3–6–fold decrease in wear volume, demonstrating excellent lubrication and vibration-damping capabilities. When the sliding speed was set at 16 mm/s, and the applied normal load was elevated to a magnitude of 4 N, the stick-slip vibration disappeared entirely, the fluctuation amplitude of the friction coefficient exhibited a marked decrease in variability, and the system exhibited enhanced stability. Furthermore, elevated normal loading inversely correlated with friction coefficient magnitude, manifesting unexpected attenuation patterns. When subjected to a 2 N vertical force application, increasing the sliding velocity resulted in a gradual reduction of stick-slip vibration.
