Research reveals improved damping performance in a new ADAS damper, indicating better structural integrity under seismic conditions.
A new combined ADAS metallic damper is put forward by combining a new X-shaped plate and rhombic plate in this paper, i.e., Type I metallic damper and Type II metallic damper. The minimum widths of the middle section of the X-shaped plate and rhombic plate are obtained by stress analysis theory. The hysteresis performance obtained by ABAQUS software shows that the carrying capacity and damping performance of Type I metallic damper with different materials are better than those of Type II metallic damper. The loading capacity and the equivalent damping ratio of the Type I metallic damper are better than those of the C-ADAS metallic damper. The simulation analyses illustrate that the new combined ADAS metallic damper can effectively improve the structural seismic performance and the carrying capacity.
