Analysis of linear accelerator effects on TiO2 samples reveals changes in resistivity and material composition, indicating long-range phenomena.
The main parameters of sample irradiation on a linear helium ions accelerator and the characteristics of the irradiated TiO2 samples are presented. After irradiating TiO2-2 with 4 MeV helium ions, the formation of flaking on the front and back sides of the sample was observed, along with a decrease in bulk electrical resistivity, a decrease in surface electrical resistivity on the front and back sides of the sample, an increase in the percentage of titanium, and a decrease in oxygen on the front and back sides of the irradiated sample, indicating the manifestation of the longrange effect. Considering the change in the surface profile of the irradiated samples, primary processes were calculated, namely: ionization, phonon and vacancy formation, segregation, damage, and sputtering. Analysis of experimental data showed that the model based on the processes of excitation and propagation of elastic waves most physically correctly describes some long-range effects.
