This article analyzes sacred space in Vasile Romanciuc's poetry, highlighting its existential grounding and the impact of desacralization.
This article addressesthe issue ofsacred space in the poetry ofV.Romanciuc, starting, first of all, from the definition of the sacred offered by M. Eliade and R. Caillois. Using the dichotomy of inside and outside, proposed by R. Caillois, but also used by G. Bachelard, a demarcation of the sacred space within into three concentrically situated levels: house, village, country, which give a profound meaning to being, representing an existential grounding. When these sacred spaces are not accessible, they can be accessed through memories/memory, which have become storage spaces. At the same time, the inside also includes certain disruptive agents, whose action is, however, annihilated by the proximity of sacredness. In the volumes of poetry published after 1990, the sacred space is transformed into a world in decay, a world in collapse, a world upside down, a world that is hurriedly walking down the path of desacralization.
