Research demonstrates improved energy consumption and thermo-acoustic comfort in sustainable buildings using rammed earth methods, highlighting standards compliance.
Studies on sustainable buildings bring new construction methods to our daily lives, to challenge traditional civil construction, mostly based on non-renewable materials. The system in Rammed Earth is an alternative that makes it possible to build in a more sustainable way, given the significant improvements in thermo-acoustic comfort and, consequently, the optimization of energy consumption, aspects guided by the ABNT NBR 17014 (2022) standard, which has helped in the emancipation of this system, still little explored in Brazil. In this sense, the present research is based on the study of the Laboratory-House of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC), São Carlos-SC, whose walls were built in Rammed Earth, with results demonstrating the excellent performance of these self-supporting elements building with earth.
