Analysis of architectural trends in sports infrastructure reveals sustainable practices and hybrid models for community engagement.
World architectural practice demonstrates various innovations in the design of SIO, aimed at the development of sports, population health, active involvement of fans and development of the local economy and community. In SIO architecture, this is expressed through: 1) sustainable trends in combining the functions of sports facilities with various commercial, cultural and health functions; 2) the introduction of various shells into SIO architecture; 3) the formation of public spaces of free access in and near buildings; 4) the introduction of inclusivity and energy efficiency standards into sports facilities; 5) the development of vertical functions and the placement of stadiums on the upper floors or roofs; 6) the use of the latest media and information technologies, the combination of virtual and real sports. The study identified and classified modern models of SIO architectural form formation: nature-integrated architecture, connection architecture, skin architecture, sustainable development architecture and multipurpose architecture. The latest SIO projects indicate that an integrated model is currently being formed that combines existing models in the formation of sports buildings. The implementation of a hybrid approach in the formation of SIO is determined. There is a wide variety of applied building hybridization strategies, which result in the creation of functional and interspecific hybrids, architectural-natural hybrids, architectural-logistical hybrids, a variety of architectural-technological and engineering hybrids, including those that combine the real and virtual worlds. As a result of the analysis of the SIO functional hybridization strategy, two goals have been identified: a) the development of mass physical culture and opportunities for sports for the population; b) the creation of iconic unique objects during megaprojects that represent the technical achievements and progressiveness of the country.
