Restoration efforts for transport infrastructure are underway in Ukraine, indicating strong international support amid conflict.
As a result of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the transport infrastructure of our country suffered losses in the amount of 36.8 billion dollars as of February 2024. But, despite the fact that the war continues, the restoration of the transport infrastructure has already begun. 74 billion dollars are needed to restore the transport infrastructure. Of course, these amounts will change, because every day the aggressor country fires at the territory of our country and constantly causes new destruction. The Government of Ukraine, local authorities, Ukrainian scientists, working together with international institutions, determine measures and develop programs, plans, projects for the restoration of transport infrastructure facilities and the necessary funds for this. Close cooperation has been established with the countries of the European Union and other partner countries that support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. The directions for the restoration and reconstruction of the transport infrastructure of Ukraine, in particular, roads, bridges, overpasses, railway stations and parks, traction and transformer substations, catenary networks, railway tracks, airfields, air terminals, runways, hangars, terminals and other aviation infrastructure, have been determined. port infrastructure and fleet of vehicles. Despite the continuation of military operations, the restoration and reconstruction of transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine began almost from the first days of the full-scale invasion. Sometimes such works happen very quickly, in a few days or weeks. Sometimes they need more time - several months. It depends on the consequences of destruction. But there are very significant destructions of objects, the restoration of which requires a lot of money and a lot of time - not even one year. Ukraine hopes that thanks to long-term programs and plans jointly with the countries of the European Union and other partner countries, it will be possible to restore the economy and transport infrastructure in particular quite quickly.
