Analysis identifies drought impacts on water resources in river basin, suggesting need for effective management.
In recent decades, climate change has had a major impact on water resources and their sustainable management. Drought periods with their distribution in time and space result in significant economic losses in all branches of economic activity (agriculture, transport, energy production, water resources management, etc.). The vulnerabilities of water resources due to climate change and the establishment of adaptation measures at the level of a river basin require a specific analysis of their impact on water resources. The volume of water stored in the Solesti reservoir constitutes the raw water needed to supply drinking water to the population and to the economic sector. In order to properly manage the surface water resources in the analyzed hydrographical area, both at present and in the future, and to avoid situations with a potential negative impact on the population, it is useful to analyze the monthly average liquid flows upstream of the Solesti reservoir by identifying trends in the variability of the average resource on a monthly scale by a nonparametric statistical test.
