This study compares tube-a-manachette and multi-strainer grouting methods for soil penetration in tunneling, suggesting enhanced reliability in construction.
The Tube-A-Manachette (TAM) grouting method has been used in Taiwan for several years, particularly in underground constructions such as tunneling boring mechanisms (TBM) tunnels and cross-passage construction. While the TAM grouting method is effective, the 33 cm grouting intervals and limited grout outlets can pose challenges in areas with surface obstacles, raising concerns about infiltration reliability. This study adopted the multi-strainer (MS) grouting method to address this problem, featuring 100 cm grouting steps and more grout outlets for improved soil penetration. This study compares the TAM and MS grouting methods in a TBM tunnel construction case. We analyze geological conditions and evaluate their effectiveness through data recorded during the grouting process.
