Observational analysis shows 78.3% reduction in potato damage from wireworms in private farms, indicating potential for safer pesticide use.
Pre-sowing treatment of tubers not only protects potatoes from wireworms, but also reduces the toxic load on the agrocenosis. The purpose of research is to assess the biological effectiveness of an insecticide containing 350 g/l of the active substance thiamethoxam in the formulation of suspension concentrate in field conditions in 2022–2023. High biological effectiveness has been shown against the larvae of click beetles. The tuber damage reduced up to 78.3 % (total degree of damage). Based on the data obtained, a conclusion was made about the possibility of using the preparation under study in potato protection systems on private farm households, subject to state registration and inclusion in the State Catalog of Pesticides and Agrochemicals listed for use on the territory of the Russian Federation.
