Research reveals pressure-induced chiroptical shifts in porphyrin macrocycles, highlighting solvent and pressure interactions.
Herein, we report a chirally twisted porphyrin macrocycle, 1 is demonstrated to possess dynamically tunable chiroptical properties under hydrostatic pressure as an external stimulus. Upon hydrostatic pressurization, in halogenated solvents, the anisotropy (g) factor shifts from near zero to positive values, whereas in non-halogenated solvents, the g factor in-verts from negative to positive. These chiroptical switches are based on pressure-induced conformational change gov-erned by the interplay between macrocyclic flexibility and solvent polarity.
