CVD method improved by eliminating catalyst yields smoother PbS nanowires, suggesting potential production advances.
The synthesis of PbS nanowires based on traditional CVD generally uses PbCl2 and S source to grow in an atmosphere containing H2. However, this method can cause the generated nanowires to become rough and uneven in diameter due to etching by the generated HCl. In this article, we report for the first time the growth of PbS nanowires on a catalyst free substrate using Pb and S sources. The nanowires we grow not only have a very smooth surface, but also a uniform diameter. We also grew vertical PbS nanowires. Our research results provide new ideas for the synthesis of PbS nanowires in the future.
