Proposed method improves renewable energy hosting capacity in load-dense regions, indicating better grid reliability.
With the increasing integration of high-penetration renewable energy into the power grid, the hosting capacity of renewable energy faces significant challenges. This study proposes a method to enhance the renewable energy hosting capacity in load-dense regions with high renewable energy penetration. First, through a comprehensive investigation, the risks associated with high renewable energy penetration are identified. The short-circuit ratio (SCR) is used to evaluate renewable hosting capacity, considering siting, grid topology, and energy storage. Electromagnetic transient simulations assess voltage and rotor angle stability, and a Guangzhou case study using DJET confirms the method’s effectiveness in improving hosting capacity and guiding future planning.
