Empirical analysis estimates recovery times and return rates in various university programs, indicating investment diversity.
The objective of this study was to estimate the quality of the investment in university studies in courses belonging to a private university in the country based on the recovery time of the investment and the rate of return. The study was quantitative, empirical, descriptive and exploratory in nature. The theories used in this research were the Human Capital Theory (HCT) which explains how education is an investment that requires time and resources, which is expected to generate future returns in terms of higher income and better job prospects based on rationality. of the student and his family. On the other hand, the Theory of Human Development (TDH) is a comprehensive approach that seeks to improve the quality of life of people through the expansion of their capabilities and opportunities, focusing on equity, participation and freedom. Some results in this research indicate that careers such as Civil Engineering and Architecture have positive recovery times of 3.0 to 3.4 years, depending on whether you have a scholarship. For its part, Electrical Engineering, with a duration of 3.3 years, has recovery times of 3.0 to 3.3 years, with or without a scholarship. On the other hand, Chemical Engineering, which lasts 4.0 years, shows negative recovery times of 4.4 to 4.9 years, with or without a scholarship. The above reflects a significant variety in the relationship between educational investment and economic gains, due to the differences in duration, costs and salary projections of each career.
