Case study reveals effective tools management using digital twin maturity levels in manufacturing companies, suggesting better traceability methods.
Operations carried out by manufacturing companies require the use of tools that are shared among multiple people and machines. The management of this tooling is relevant but often overlooked by companies. The lack of adequate traceability of these tools in companies generally explains the absence of tools management. The digital twin is one of the technologies that can improve the traceability of objects. The aim of this article is to test the proposed conceptual model that divides digital twin technology into maturity levels. First a literature review that lists the expected applications and proposed models is presented. Then a case study on tool management in a teaching factory is introduced. The results demonstrate the application of the five maturity levels of digital twin for tools management.
